Help with Ceya

Getting started

Ceya shows you the people around you right now — but only the ones who have chosen to be seen, and only while you have chosen to be seen yourself. Nothing is visible until you switch yourself on, and it stops on its own when your timer runs out.

1. 1Open Ceya and choose who can see you: everyone, friends of friends, or no one.
2. 2Set how long you want to be visible. When the timer ends, you disappear.
3. 3Anyone else nearby who is also visible appears on your radar.

Who can see you

Visibility is always mutual. Whoever can see you can be seen by you, so there is no way to watch a room without being in it. Ceya runs on Bluetooth rather than GPS: it can tell that two phones were briefly close together, and it keeps no history of where you have been.

Adding people

There is no search bar and no way to browse people you have not met. You can add someone who is on your radar — meaning they are nearby right now — or you can send one person your own invite link, over WhatsApp or email. That is deliberate: it is what makes a mutual friend on Ceya a real one.

Blocking someone

You can block anyone from their profile. It takes effect straight away: they will not appear on your radar and you will not appear on theirs, you stop seeing each other's posts, and neither of you can send the other a friend request. Blocking also removes an existing friendship. You can undo a block at any time, and blocks are managed in the app.

1. 1Open the profile of the person you want to block and choose Block.
2. 2To review or undo a block, open Settings and choose Blocked users.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, without contacting us first. Deleting is permanent.

Requirements

Ceya is for people aged 18 and over, with no exceptions. It needs Bluetooth switched on to find anyone nearby, and it only uses Bluetooth while you have made yourself visible — which is also why it does not drain your battery in the background.

When nobody is nearby

Then Ceya is quiet, which is honest. It works best in places where people stay a while: a café, a class, a coworking floor, a shared house. If your radar is empty, it usually means nobody around you is visible right now rather than that something is broken.
