If someone nearby shares a friend with you, Ceya tells you. Not an algorithm — an introduction. It’s the oldest way people have ever met each other, and somehow nobody had built it for the room you’re standing in.

Ceya shows nothing until you turn yourself visible, and it switches off when your timer runs out. Choose who can see you — everyone, friends of friends, or no one at all. And to see who’s around, you have to be visible yourself.

There is no search bar.
You can add someone who’s on your radar — meaning they’re in the room or near you — or you can send one person your own invite link. That’s it. No browsing, no following, no requests from someone three cities away. It’s slower than every other app, and that is exactly the point.

Photos from the friends you made, in the order they posted them. No followers, no algorithm deciding who matters today. It’s small on purpose — that’s the point of it.
You already know the feeling. A hundred people in a room and you talk to the two you came with. Somewhere in there is a person you’d have got on with for the next ten years — you just walked past them, and neither of you knew. Ceya is a very small fix for a very old problem.

Private by design.
The apps that came before this one tracked you in the background all day and drained your battery doing it. Ceya only runs when you switch it on, only sees the thirty metres around you, and keeps no trail of any of it. That isn’t a policy we wrote — it’s the only thing the technology can do.

Who is Ceya for?
Anyone who wants to know who’s around them right now, and who they already share a friend with. There’s no swiping, no rating and no way to browse people you haven’t met. It’s a tool for the room you’re in.
Does Ceya know where I am?
No. It runs on Bluetooth, which only tells us that two phones were briefly close to each other. There is no GPS, no map, no address and no history of where you’ve been. We couldn’t reconstruct your day if we tried.
Who can see me?
Only the people you choose — everyone nearby, friends of friends, or no one — and only while your timer is running. To see who’s around, you have to be visible yourself, so there’s no way to watch a room without being in it.
What if nobody’s nearby?
Then Ceya is quiet, which is honest. It works best where people stay a while: a café, a class, a coworking floor, a shared house. We open new places only when enough people are there to make it worth opening.
Why can’t I search for people?
Because a search bar turns people into a directory. You add someone who’s on your radar, or someone you sent your personal link to. It’s slower — and it’s the reason a mutual friend on Ceya is a real mutual friend.
Will it drain my battery?
No. Ceya uses Bluetooth Low Energy and only while you’ve switched yourself visible.
Can I block someone?
Yes, from any profile, and it takes effect straight away. They won’t appear on your radar and you won’t appear on theirs. You can undo it in Settings.
How old do you have to be?
18. No exceptions.
A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER
I spilled a drink on a stranger in Costa Rica. We said sorry, we said it’s fine, and that was the whole conversation. The next night we randomly met and spoke again — and found out we had the same close friend in Munich. Ten thousand kilometres from home. It took an accident and a second chance to find out. That’s the part I couldn’t stop thinking about: how many we all walk past.
